In APOLLONIO we find a combination of wealth and determination in the design that makes us think of the late Eastern Roman Empire, with its central lantern blown inside a metal cage and its tens of glass spheres held by brass hooks. The resulting image is
powerful, even with its marked decorative charge, and in someway primordial. The central light source is multiplied and refracted many times in the long glass tentacles. From afar, it is a sea creature. From close up, it is a barbarian jewel.
