Mutina: Celosia by Patricia Urquiola

Tradition in 3D – A new take on brickwork.
5/27/2025

Mutina and Patricia Urquiola set out to revive the traditional artisanal production process typical of terracotta.
Elements born from the earth—imperfect yet solid—marked by the human hand and the passage of time. Roof tiles, bricks, hollow blocks, and partitions are stripped down, deconstructed, and reinterpreted, all while preserving their traditional essence.

The desire to break free from the flat, two-dimensional surfaces typical of standard wall coverings is fulfilled through experimentation with three-dimensional bricks. These new design elements, with their high aesthetic and functional value, open up endless possibilities for both interior and exterior spaces.

The partition element CELOSIA takes its inspiration from the Roman numeral system in its form. The structure used for its installation creates dynamic and unique dividing walls.
