A heritage-listed church in the heart of London has been transformed into a market hall that also serves as a community center. Furniture from Fermob invites you to eat, drink or simply enjoying watching time pass.
With this piece, Patrick Jouin takes a new look at the iconic Facto chair, his very first piece, which first entered the Fermob catalogue back in 1998. It is an outdoor seat with a simple silhouette and made from a single material: soft sheet steel. Patrick uses these features to create a delightful, elegant, simple and welcoming armchair that is both practical and comfortable.
The shell backrest features a complex system of irregular perforations, which spread out in a harmonious pattern to create the illusion of perfect curves, with the largest perforations located at the centre of the backrest and the smallest ones situated at the top and bottom of the frame. The legs and armrests are each made from a single, curved metal tube and extend across the entire chair, avoiding the need for additional parts and welds. The overall design flirts with haute couture to achieve a technically demanding and aesthetically pleasing result. As Patrick Jouin himself admits, «this is a technological challenge that only Fermob could take up.»
