Thus ideas that represent the basis of design will be shown and discussed. Numerous showrooms, workshops, galleries and cafés serve as locations. In parallel, the activities can also be experienced via the virtual presence. The project 5 VIE was launched in 2013 by Ernesta Del Cogliano and Emanuele Tessarolo.

The respective locations can be viewed on the 5VIE website.

OPPO x Kengo Kuma: "Bamboo (竹) Ring :|| Weaving a Symphony of Lightness and Form"

OPPO x Kengo Kuma
Sound and architecture are combined by the Chinese electronics manufacturer OPPO in collaboration with the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma in the form of the multi-sensory installation "Bamboo (竹) Ring :|| Weaving a Symphony of Lightness and Form". It will be on display in the courtyard of the Cortile dei Bagni during Milan Design Week and beyond until 19 September 2021: an intertwining spiral of bamboo and carbon fibre, accompanied by a sound composition taken from the OPPO Relax app and inspired by the cycle of the seasons. The soundscape was conceived by violinist Midori Komachi. The dynamic form of the installation is thus set in vibration with the sound waves and becomes an instrument itself. “When I design architecture, I’m interested in designing the rhythm and the tone rather than the silhouette, and contemporary music gives us many lessons about how to create new rhythms and tones in architecture. This pavilion is one of the explorations into the new rhythms and tones in architecture combining visual and acoustic experiences of the visitors", says Kengo Kuma.
