Featured Preview – Milan Design Week 2022
THONET
Like no other event, Milan Design Week offers international guests fascinating insights into the city's magnificent buildings. These include the Circolo Filologico library of the cultural association of the same name, which was founded as early as 1872 and is thus one of the oldest in Italy. Completely renovated in the 1950s and 1960s, the library now houses a collection of over 100,000 antiquarian volumes. Thonet will present the "Circolo Thonet", designed by Sebastian Herkner, in this magnificent setting. In the form of a carousel-like installation in the centre of the Circolo Filologico, the traditional brand will thus present iconic classics made of bentwood and tubular steel, including the "S 64" cantilever chair, the "214" chair or the "B 9" side and set tables. Also to be discovered in the "Circolo Thonet" are numerous new products by international designers such as Werner Aisslinger, Sebastian Herkner and Marialaura Rossiello-Irvine, as well as an exclusive sneak preview of the new chair design by Sam Hecht and Kim Colin.
