This model is inspired by the ceramic pavements of Ipanema – the celebrated beach in Rio de Janeiro – with its curved design by Roberto Burle Marx, the great Brazilian architect, renowned the world over for his park and garden designs. It was he who introduced modernist landscape architecture to Brazil.
Didier Gomez also draws inspiration from Oscar Niemeyer, one of the most celebrated Brazilian architects and designers. His work, which chimes perfectly with the international style movement, occupies a significant place in the history of modern architecture (Cathedral of Brasília, United Nations Headquarters in NYC). One finds this organic bean shape in a number of his designs, including many swimming pools and the roof of the Casa das Canoas.
With the sensuality and curves of this new settee, Didier Gomez conjures up for us his happiest years in Rio de Janeiro.
Constituent elements of the collection – With his Ipanema range, Didier Gomez brings us brand new seats for the Cinna 2019 collection! From the settee to the ‘Canalounge’, via a 1-arm settee, these elements have been devised to offer the maximum possible comfort. Ipanema issues an invitation to relax thanks to its harmonious and very generous volumes. With their irreproachable proportions, the design of these seats is sober, yet curvaceous. Ideal for shaping an interior and turning it into a real masterpiece.
Curving, enveloping, full of softness, femininity and glamour, the rounded settee is the new deco seating trend par excellence. The collection is completed by the canalounge.
– The canalounge: is composed of a 1-arm settee and a lounge
seat. Right or left. The most classic and the most universal piece
in the family. This product is finished on all sides, looking just as
attractive from behind as it does from the front. It boasts, in the
same covering material as the structure, 1 large rectangular cushion
(buttoned) and 2 large square cushions (buttoned), to which can
be added 2 medium flat-sided cushions (non-buttoned) + 2 small
pillow cushions.
– The large settee: composed of 2 1-arm settees, with a total overall width of 4 m.
– The Double Lounge : the most original shape, which takes a low
table between the 2 lounge seats.
– The settee: the most ‘deco’, the rounded lines of which are inspired by Niemayer and Roberto Marx, a kind of asymmetrical ‘bean’ shape which requires more than 70 cutting plans. A very high-end settee, which by designation is the reference model for the range. Here, there is a combination of 2 large square cushions (buttoned, same fabric and colour as the structure) + 1 medium cushion (fabric and colour to choice, non-buttoned) + 1 small ‘pillow’ cushion (fabric and colour to choice, non-buttoned).
