Meti

“Ornament is crime” is the strong assertion of Adolf Loos. However ornament is no longer luxury today, but rather follows a process that can be fully integrated into industrial production, thus becoming a rational element. Meti is a system combining light with space separation. It is made up of a suspended, stretched light profile that generates a lighting performance controlled in space. Sheer fringes of varying lengths filter light and penetrate into space to define its perception. Thus Meti defines spaces through the lighting performance, as well as by separating them physically. The system is made up of three basic elements, a linear module, and two different curved ones that allow to freely set up complex, open or closed geometries to address functional and architectural needs. Meti can be set up with utmost flexibility, not just with respect to the profile’s geometries to match with space, but also by changing and alternating the length of the textile elements.
