GRAU follows the aim of enlivening the social, creative and spiritual power of light.
‘Activate what makes us human’ expresses the brand’s mission. “Our goal is to use light to ac- tivate what makes us human. Our ability to feel, to think, to imagine, to question and to change it back, that’s what makes us human.” CEOs and Creative Directors Timon Grau and Melchior Grau elaborate. Collection
GRAU presents a collection of emotional and personal products in three categories: Mobile luminaires for dynamic moments, ambient light for atmospheric scenery and smart work lights for the modern workplace. The product range focuses on people and sensual experiences. GRAU also acts as a bridge between art and business with exhibitions, installations and sculp- tures. All luminaires and sculptures are designed and produced at the Hamburg headquarters.
Heritage
The company, founded by Tobias Grau in 1986, started a transformation process in 2020, including a successful generational handover to the brothers Timon Grau and Melchior Grau. According to their artistic vision they guided the brand through a rebranding and an internal process in which new work and collaboration were established. Today, the holistically run com- pany employs an interdisciplinary and diverse team of 150 people.
