Designed in 1966, Foglio is one of the best-selling lamps in the Flos catalogue. The design originates from the simple gesture of folding a sheet of steel, transforming it into a sculptural presence that emits direct, indirect and partially diffused light. This almost intuitive gesture creates a distinctive form that makes the lamp a sophisticated decorative presence even when switched off. The cut and folded steel sheet creates soft curves that conceal the light sources and cast a gentle light upwards and downwards.
Foglio Small faithfully retains its character and quality of light while reducing its dimensions by approximately 30%. The more compact proportions enhance its natural adaptability without altering its identity. “It is a wall lamp”, Scarpa continues in the same text, “that avoids the drawback of being practically immovable, as the wall fitting is extremely easy to install. It is a modern interpretation of the small shade used to conceal the light source on traditional wall lamps.”
