What do a matchbox and a match have to say about the state of the world in general and of art in particular?

In the 1960s they designed ambitious utopias with cheeky irony. Today they build shopping malls. The exhibition “Haus-Rucker-Co – Architectural Utopia Reloaded” at Berlin’s “Haus am Waldsee” tells fairytales from a long since obsolete future.

It seemingly moves of its own volition, creates its own cosmos, tells us what we have to do, plays the lead in movies, has its own sound, and everything about it has to be designed: Our relationship to the automobile and the automobile to us, proves to be astonishingly diverse.

This year, surprisingly, but logically “Bosco Verticale” by Stefano Boeri won the International High-Rise Award. Will it become a role model?

Square one-size-fits-all carpet tiles are very yesterday – the hottest trend in floor coverings are jigsaw carpets. The result of a collaboration between Vorwerk and Berlin designer Werner Aisslinger, “Elementary Shapes” enable us to piece together personalized carpet creations from six basic geometric shapes.
